Heeman’s has become a favourite destination for many local gardeners and berry fans but it had humble beginnings. Will Heeman, Chief Daymaker and third generation family member, will join us to talk about growing up in a family business and the journey Heeman’s has taken to become an award winning, experience focused business. There will be photos of mouthwatering strawberries, a Dutch joke or two, and he’ll also answer a question Heeman’s gets all the time, what is a ‘Daymaker’?! Of course, it’s also gardening season and strawberries are soon on there way, so bring your plant and berry questions for our local expert.

Will Heeman is the Chief Daymaker at Heeman’s, an award-winning garden centre and berry farm serving London. After graduating university with a background in marketing and geography, Will took a sabbatical working at a garden centre in New Zealand. He is now a driving force behind many of the exciting innovations at Heeman’s, including their popular workshop series and coffee bar. Will has been called ‘someone to watch’ in the gardening industry and was named Young Retailer of the Year for North America in 2016. He is also a past president of the Ontario Berry Growers Association, the youngest in the organization’s history. When not ‘out standing in his field’, Will enjoys local food, beer and wine and travelling with his wife, to far off destinations.
